in passing: The TV Set, Jake Kasdan, 2006

So before turning into a director of interesting if rather laboured broad mainstream comedies Jake Kasdan made a terrible indie film about a terrible looking indie-style tv dramedy being turned into an also terrible looking broad mainstream sitcom. No punchline in sight.

It's a shame, because Kasdan does try to depict the ecology of network television rather meticulously. But the very existence of something like 30 ROCK makes whiny reflexivity like this utterly redundant.

(The Fran Kranz character could be interesting - in a completely different movie.)
